Department of Physical Education

The Department of Physical Education was established in 1934 and is one of the first and leading departments of physical education in higher educational establishments in the country.
The activity of the department is aimed at organizing and conducting physical education classes, creating conditions for improvement of students in the sports sections of the University, education of healthy and comprehensively developed specialists.

Over the past 20 years, the Department of Physical Education has accumulated a wealth of experience in organizing sports and recreational work at the faculties and educational departments of various sports. The scientific and methodological substantiation of the educational and training process for students of all specialties of NTUU "KPI" was carried out, and a large number of scientific and methodical developments, manuals, patents for inventions, monographs, educational and working programs on physical education were prepared and published.

Students are free to choose between a sport and a teacher.

Classes are held with 1st and 2nd year students once a week on a university schedule. Students also receive methodological instructions for conducting an independent supplementary class, which is conducted once a week at home (within the VTS) and aimed at the development of lagging physical qualities.

The Department of Physical Education conducts educational work with students of all faculties of NTUU "KPI" (about 700 academic groups) in the form of practical classes in 13 types of physical activity and sports:
  •     Aerobics;
  •     Athletic gymnastics;
  •     Basketball;
  •     Boxing & Fighting (Taekwon-do, Judo);
  •     Volleyball;
  •     Athletics;
  •     Table tennis;
  •     Swimming;
  •     Gymnastics;
  •     Tennis;
  •     Tourism;
  •     Shaping.

The training program also includes archery, rugby, football classes taught by the teachers of the Department of Sports Improvement.

Students with health problems are engaged in scientifically sound methods at the special medical department of the department of sports improvement.

In the physical education classes, students gain applied knowledge, skills and skills in sports, health and professional activity necessary for their study at the technical and humanities departments of NTUU "KPI". In addition, students are taught Valeology course material in the form of lectures and talks.

The Department of Physical Education, in conjunction with the Department of Sports Improvement, organizes and conducts sports and wellness work at the faculties of NTUU "KPI":
  •     holding various levels of competitions in the presented sports, in particular, the championship of NTUU "KPI";
  •     holding the NTUU "KPI" sports contest;
  •     conducting workshops on various sports.
